Hanging Rock Adventure

Last week was John's fall break and since I work the weekends, we were able to get away during the week for a spur of the moment camping trip!  Our adventure started Wednesday morning, as we headed out for a couple days of hiking and sleeping under the stars.  First stop on our road trip was the always delicious and comforting Cracker Barrel.

Yes, that is ALL just John's order.
Already COMPLETELY decorated for the holidays!

Along the way, we rode through beautiful country side, and saw the trees beginning to change their colors.
And we also saw a lot of these little guys (or girls?)

We finally made it to Hanging Rock State Park, which is about an hour north of Winston Salem, NC.

As soon as we picked out our perfect campsite, we began unloading all of our gear, and started assembling our new tent!

Pretty proud of this self-timer pic!
Our cozy abode

We then went on a short hike, and came back to start on making a fire.  It took a little while, but John finally got a roaring toasty fire built that we enjoyed for several hours.

Turkey/Cheddar Bratwursts for dinner :)

Then dessert!

The next morning, we set out bright and early for the most famous trail at the park - the Hanging Rock trail.

We made it to the top, and the view was amazing!!  It was definitely a strenuous hike, but well worth it!

It was VERY windy, and I was holding on to John for dear life!
The famous "Hanging Rock"
After that hike, we found another trail that led us to some very pretty waterfalls.
Pretty colorful leaves everywhere!
John actually ended up climbing to the top of the waterfall, and having a somewhat difficult time finding a way back down.....

Another waterfall and pool :)  I wished it was a bit warmer so we could go for a dip!

We packed up later that afternoon and headed back home!  It was a WONDERFUL getaway, and we enjoyed every minute of it.  Can't wait until the next camping trip!

Wild Side

Recently, all of us girls celebrated Becca's approaching wedding day, by having a little bachelorette extravaganza!  The night started at Katie's apartment with drinks and appetizers...
Meredith and me with our mojitos :)

Then it was off to our next destination.... where we took a class that taught us some very interesting exercise moves, and had LOTS of laughs.  I won't go into too many details, but you can see by the pictures below, we had a great time, unleashing our "wild" side :)

The whole gang :)

Back at Katie's for dessert - adorably decorated cookies!!

Best Wishes, Becca and Gary!!

So Mod

I'm loving the "new arrivals" section that Mod Cloth has just showcased.  These pieces are darling and
oh-so-perfect for fall. These are some of my favorite pics... I think a few items might just find their way on to my Christmas wish list :)

Fall Charm

Since fall is here (although the temperatures don't agree), I decided to dig through our boxes to find a few little  things to give the apartment some fall charm.  It has really made the place feel more cozy!
Thanks to my wonderful mother-in-law for my cute dish towels!  Enjoy!

Pretty fall flower arrangement
Adorable kitchen towels!

And of course, some festive cookies :)
