Weekend Roundup

For the first official weekend of FALL, what better way to welcome it with a trip to the Pumpkin Patch? On Saturday, the three of us headed off to Lee Turkey Farm, grabbed a wagon, and started picking out fruits, veggies, and our very own pumpkin!  Andrew had so much fun, and was running around saying "Ooooh, pumpkin!" about every 5 seconds :)
It actually got down to the 60's and 70's this weekend, so it really felt like fall!

Saturday night, we celebrated John's birthday, and tried out an amazing pizza place!  Check out the size of this pie!  It was so delicious and we will definitely be going back soon!

Per John's request, after dinner, we headed to downtown Princeton for our favorite ice cream at Bent Spoon.  Andrew has only had ice cream a couple of times, and he loooooved getting to have such a fun treat!  And of course, this pregnant girl was pretty pleased too :)

Sunday, we went to Church, a surprise birthday lunch for one of my girlfriends, and I went double stroller shopping!

"Happy Birthday Amanda!!"

I ended up getting the Baby Jogger City Select Double.  I had been eyeing this one for months, but couldn't wrap my head around the price of it, especially with all the "extras" you had to buy.  And the fact that I already have...um, 4 single strollers!

Thankfully I found a barely used one on a Princeton Parent Exchange for half the price.  It came with all the bells and whistles, and Andrew was a fan for sure :)  I already set up the car seat adaptor, so we are all ready for baby girl!

And today we had to make a run into the Apple Store, passing Dunkin on the way in...I had to indulge with the free iced coffee (happy national coffee day!), and of course a pumpkin glazed doughnut (happy fall!)

Hope y'all are having a great Monday!

Friday Five

1. Virtual Baby Shower

I recently had the most amazing and thoughtful baby shower hosted by family and friends back in Florida.  Well - I should say, they were back in Florida, while I was here in Princeton!  It was a virtual shower, and I literally FaceTimed in, as all my friends ate, drank, and opened gifts for our baby girl!  More pics to come, but here is a snippet :)

2. Visit from Parents

My mom and dad just drove up this week, bringing the gifts from the shower, spending time with Andrew, and doing lots of "baby prep"!  They have been wonderful, and such a huge help!

3. NYC Babymoon

While they were here, John and I jetted off into the Big Apple for the weekend to celebrate the last month before baby comes!  We had so much fun and basically ate our way around the city :)  Lots of that, and sitting on park benches because every other block I had to stop and rest!  Walking around 8 months pregnant in New York City is no joke!

4. First Haircut

Because Andrew's hair was getting a little unruly, and because 99% of people think he's a girl when out in public, we decided to utilize my Dad's hair-cutting skills and do a little trim this week.  It turned out to be a pretty big trim (his first one!), but I think it looks so much better :)
Even though I miss his curls already!

5. Meal Prep - Frozen Breakfast Burritos

With the help of my parents (see how much they did this week!?), we started completely stocking my freezer with meals and snacks for when baby #2 arrives next month.  Lasagnas, soups, casseroles, scones, and more!  Today I whipped up some breakfast burritos, and they were so quick and easy!

Here's my recipe:
Ingredients:

1 lb ground turkey
1/2 packet of taco seasoning
8 eggs
1 box frozen chopped spinach
1 tbsp minced garlic
salt and pepper
1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
10 fajita flour tortillas

Directions:

Cook ground turkey in large skillet over medium heat. Add taco seasoning and 1/3 cup of water. Mix, remove, and set aside.  Scramble together eggs, frozen spinach, salt and pepper, and garlic in same skillet. Cook through.  Add cheese and ground turkey to egg mixture and mix together until incorporated.  Remove from heat.
Fill tortillas with egg mixture, evenly distributing among 10 tortillas (I didn't measure but maybe 1/2 cup for each one).  Wrap tortillas up tightly, with no openings for filling to fall out.  Wrap each tortilla in plastic wrap before placing in freezer bag.

When ready to eat, microwave 1 minute and enjoy!

Hope y'all are having a wonderful week!
HAPPY FRIDAY!

Baby #2 - Weeks 29-31

I'm back with another pregnancy update and I'm so behind!  But I definitely wanted to document these exciting 3 weeks!  A lot happened developmentally for baby, and I hit the 30 week mark!  As far as baby girl: all 5 senses are functioning this month - isn't that amazing?
There has been been significant growth in her head (for her growing brain!), and more muscle development. Baby girl is about 3 pounds.  We had some fun family outings, a visit from John's parents, and Andrew has especially gotten more in tune to the pregnancy!

As far as mama - I've had some good spurts of energy, and I'm feeling pretty good mostly!  Sleep is still somewhat difficult, and I have officially gotten true pregnancy brain.  I'm forgetting everything, putting the milk carton in the cabinets, and I can't seem to formulate proper sentences.

So with that in mind, less words, and more pictures:
Here are weeks 29-31!

How far along? 29 weeks
Baby Size: Baby is the size of a butternut squash.
Total weight gain/loss: Around 28 lbs.
Maternity clothes? I pretty much just wear dresses!  They are the most comfortable!
Stretch marks? Nope, not yet.
Sleep: Eh, sleep is just ok.  I'm definitely sleeping a lot less because I can't fall asleep, or stay asleep!  Lots of tossing and turning, and heartburn.
Best moment this week: Andrew is being so sweet to my growing belly, and will give the baby kisses and hugs all day long.  It's the best.  He even "fed" her grapes through my belly button because he thought she was hungry :)
Miss Anything? No, not really anything specifically.
Movement: Kicking like crazy, and rolling around, especially at night.
Food cravings: Still sweets and baked goods!  And I passed my second glucose test - hooray!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope.
Have you started to show yet: Yep.
Gender: GIRL!
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button in or out? In, but getting more shallow ;)
Wedding rings on or off? Off - too hot, too swollen!
Mood? More energized this week!  YAY!
Looking forward to: We picked baby girl's name this week - can't wait to share!

How far along? 30 weeks

Baby Size: Baby is the size of a cabbage.
Total weight gain/loss: Around 28 lbs.
Maternity clothes? Mostly dresses and ordered my first "fancy" pair of maternity jeans - looooove them!
Stretch marks? Nope.
Sleep: Sleep is not getting any better.  She is so high up in my rib cage!
Best moment this week: I have gotten into serious nesting mode!  Lots of decorating and fun projects for the nursery.  And of course shopping - it's getting a little out of hand ;)
Miss Anything? I've finally indulged a little in deli sandwiches, and I just heat them up like crazy!
Movement: Kicking kicking kicking!  Head is down so I feel it all in my ribs!
Food cravings: Muffins, bagels, and cupcakes.  You know, all the healthy stuff.

Girl's Weekend in Atlanta!

I just got back from the absolute best weekend with my college girlfriends in Atlanta!
We really had such an amazing and relaxing time, and I realized just how blessed I am to have these women in my life.

It all started out with a bang.  And by bang, I meant flying SOLO on a flight from Philly to Atlanta.
I put in my earphones, listened to my choice of music (you know, anything but "The Wheels on the Bus"), opened (and finished) an entire bag of sour patch watermelon, and caught up on the latest fashion magazine.  (By the way, I don't think I can get on board with some of these fall trends....fur boots, black sheer tights, pleated skirts, and round-toe kitten heels?  I think I'll stick with my blanket scarf and skinny jeans from last year.)

We all were finally reunited, and it was of course like no time had passed at all.  Isn't that just the best?  The five of us are just like sisters, and we really are the best of friends.  For the past 14 years!  Time flies!

A highlight of the weekend was meeting the newest addition to our group - Chelsea's precious bundle of joy, baby L.  She was the sweetest, most content baby ever, and even slept through the night for the first time while we were there!  I definitely got baby fever (good timing, right?!), and it made me so excited to welcome our baby girl in just 8 short weeks!

Another highlight was the SURPRISE baby sprinkle that the girls threw me!  Outfits, books, framed art, blankets, and a dozen of the tastiest cupcakes EVER!  Thank you girls for making me feel so special and loved!

Saturday was spent brunching, getting mani/pedis, lunching (we had the best lunch here), checking into our hotel for the rest of the weekend, lounging by the pool, getting ready for dinner (best part of any girl's weekend), and having a fabulous dinner out!  We definitely made the most of every minute we could!

Sunday was filled with sleeping in (until 9:30am!), more brunching, and the saddest goodbyes ever!
Until next time, ladies - thanks for a perfect getaway trip!
And the last big trip before baby girl comes!  So special and so needed!

Hope you are all having a fabulous week!!
