Trick-Or-Treat

I don't think I've had a better Halloween weekend, since I was a kid!
Oh the joy of trick-or-treating!

We had a blast going around our neighborhood with our friends, and watching the babies experience Halloween for the first time.  The neighbors LOVED seeing such tiny trick-or-treaters...they even gave extra candy for the Moms and Dads ;)

John loved showing Andrew the "spooky" house...
complete a graveyard,

and a spider that moved up and down his gigantic web.

Andrew wasn't so sure about it ;)

We came home to check out the loot, and I think Andrew picked up each piece about 50 times just to see what this "candy" business was all about.
As you can tell by his shirt - Andrew is all ready for the next big holiday!  ;)

Hope y'all had a fun and safe weekend!

Happy Halloween! Chickens and Throwbacks

Happy Halloween!
From our little Chicken :)

We had so much fun dressing Andrew up yesterday for his first Halloween party.  It's one of those costumes that he'll probably look back at, and just shake his head at us.  A chicken?  Really, mom?

But we think it's pretty cute.

Hope y'all have a fun and safe night!
We will be doing a neighborhood parade, and a little trick-or-treating too.
Will be back Monday with a recap!

(and just for fun...a little throwback to a few Halloweens past)

Weekend Update

It's Monday (again?!), and it's time for a Weekend Update!
We had a pretty low-key weekend, which was nice after a busy week.

On Friday, I finally got into the decorating spirit, and added some Halloween flair to our bar cart :)
I like how it turned out!

Later, I took Andrew to Barnes and Nobles for a Halloween story-time, and meet and greet with Curious George!  I put this adorable Moose hat on Andrew, and snapped a couple pics before the event.

"Moose on the loose!"

Saturday, we were invited to a Diwali celebration at one of John's coworker's homes.  It was so wonderful to get a chance to enjoy authentic Indian cuisine, and learn about their traditions.
Thank you for including us, Ankit!  And making it a baby-friendly day!  ;)

I made a Target run to get some safety pins...
and ended up in here, which always happens.

{this outfit has been on repeat for the last 2 weeks!}

I walked out with this top for layering,
and also picked up these Pumpkin Spice waffles, which I have been loving!

someone else is a fan of them too ;)

I tried a few new recipes over the weekend, and I just have to share my latest obsession with you:
Avocado Egg Toast!

{toasted ezekial bread, avocado seasoned with salt/pepper/lime juice, and fried egg on top}

It was also the weekend of soups, and John and I both LOVED these two I made from scratch:

Beef Stew

Sunday, I busted out my bright pink dress, that I paired with black tights and booties.  It definitely is one of those dresses that just makes me smile!  And I love how it can be worn throughout all the seasons with different shoes and styling.

Hope y'all had a great weekend!
And Happy Halloween Week!

Favorite Halloween Treats

Halloween is almost here, and if you're anything like me, you may just have a couple parties/get togethers to go to!  Here are a few of my absolute FAVORITE fall treats that would be perfect to bring along!  And even if you don't have anywhere to go, make them for yourself -
they are THAT yummy!

(I looked back at my blog archives over the past several years, and these are my picks! Sorry for the poor photo quality/professionalism - these were back in my "I-don't-know-how-to-take-pictures" days.)

Owl Cupcakes
(chocolate cupcake mix, chocolate frosting, double stuff oreos and reeses pieces for the eyes/nose!)

Nutter Butter Ghosts
(Dip Nutter Butters in melted white chocolate, let cool, and then adorn with mini chocolate chips for the eyes!)

Isn't this picture just everything?  NOT.  But I have to say, it's my most pinned recipe!  HA!

(my fave! I make these all fall/winter - they are sooooo good!)

(Ok, if y'all don't make anything this fall, make THESE.  They are ooey, gooey, cinnamony, and pumpkiny, and they literally melt in your mouth.  A little bit tedious but oh-so-worth-it.  And they will make your entire house smell like a Cinnabon Factory.)

Which treat looks the yummiest to you??
