European Adventure - Bavaria

While in Munich, John and I planned to take another day trip into the beautiful and picturesque area of Bavaria, Germany.  Bavaria is home to two of the most beautiful castles I have EVER seen.
First up was the Hohenschwangau Castle - which was the childhood home of King Ludwig II of Bavaria.

The view from inside the castle - not too shabby!

We wandered around the gorgeous castle and down to the this lake -- it was the most beautiful blue I've ever seen.  I would have just stared at it forever if we had all day.

Next up was the main feature - the Neuschwanstein Castle - which King Ludwig II had built as a "retreat" home just a stone's throw away from the Hohenschwangau Castle.  It was also the inspiration for Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle -- and I can see why.  It was truly the most magical and breath-taking place I've ever seen.  The scenery, the castle, the architecture, and the perfect blue skies made for an unforgettable picture.

The most amazing views came from Mary's Bridge -- a tiny wooden bridge that was a tad terrifying, but well worth it.

We had the BEST day exploring Bavaria -- it was like living in a fairy tale :)

Next up - Prague!!

The Hills are Alive!

Doe, a dear, a female dear....
I hope you all are singing along with me now!

While we were in Munich, we decided that we had enough time to take a day trip into Salzburg, Austria - and I am SO glad that we did!  I convinced John to do the Sound of Music bus tour through the famous Austrian hills where the movie was filmed.  He agreed and we were able to get tickets once we took the quick train into Salzburg.  After an ice cream break and a quick stroll through the gorgeous and meticulous Mirabellgarten, we were on the tour bus, gallivanting all around the amazing sights that were made famous by the Captain, Maria, and the darling Von Trap children.

From the beautiful mansion where they filmed the home scenes, to the stunning lake where Maria and the kids went canoeing, the glass Gazebo (where Liesel sang "I am sixteen, going on seventeen"), and the Wedding church nestled in the picturesque Alps, we saw it all!
And in between all the stops and the sights, the entire bus was signing along to the Sound of Music soundtrack as it played the famous tunes that we all have grown to love :)

Up next, Bavaria, and the Sleeping Beauty Castle!!  :)
Happy Friday!!

Friday's Fancies - Euro Trip

Happy Friday!!  Welcome to this Friday's Fancies edition --
EURO TRIP!

july 20th - euro trip

I was SO lucky to actually be in Paris last month with my wonderful hubby - and the Parisian fashion is definitely like no other.  While wandering through this city of lights, what I kept seeing over and over (besides french bread and croissants) was stripes, colored denim, and top knot buns.
I created this outfit for the perfect day in Paris - ideal for walking through parks, touring museums, or enjoying lunch at a local cafe.

Meet me in Paris

1-2-3-4-5-6

Those mint jeans are perfection -- just bought some similar ones from H&M -- the striped top is a must, and the bag is a fun (yet pricey!) pop of color.  Throw on some comfy, chic flats, a fedora, and a fun statement necklace, and you're good to go!

Hope you all have a fabulous Friday, and a great weekend!
My mom is here in Princeton visiting, and we are having the BEST time!!

XOXO

European Adventure - Munich

After our amazing time in Paris, it was off to beautiful Munich, or Munchen -as they pronounce in German.  Munich was incredible - filled with wonderful markets, romantic gardens, a bustling town center, beer gardens galore, and exquisite architecture.   We had amazing, authentic food (think bratwursts, pretzels, and beer), wandered around the Karlsplatz and Marienplatz, explored the Frauenkirche Church, toured through the stunning and extravagant Residenz - the Royal Palace of Bavaria, and much much more.
We even checked out the famous and popular Hofbrauhaus - Munich's original Beer Garden that can hold up to 10,000 people!  Prost!

Enjoy the pictures!

Next stop.... SALZBURG (and the Sound of Music Tour!)
