A Little Bit of Lately

I realize I've been a bit MIA lately, and I promise, I have reasons!  I'm brewing up a delicious post from our Florida trip, but now......here's just a peek of what I've been up to the past 2 weeks:

Fun-filled flights to Florida!  (I heart alliteration.)

Playing tennis at Bayview Park
 \
Sweeeeet Potato Fries

Setting sail with my sweetie (more alliteration, anyone?)

My latest obsession:  homemade popsicles..
this one is peach/blueberry :)

Dinner w/ good friends

 Mini mixed-berry pies

Birthday bonanzas

Breakfast dates w/ hubs

And lots more!  Obviously, I'm LOVING having John home after ELEVEN weeks away this summer!
Be back tomorrow w/ the trip to Florida!!
XOXO

Cookie Dough Dip and a Homecoming

Happy Sunday, beauties!  I hope y'all have had a wonderful weekend so far!  I have been a busy bee lately!
Last week, a group of us went to the Duke 80's party which was soooo much fun!
(here is last year's party)

Before the shin-dig, we had drinks and appetizers, and got all dolled up in our best 80's gear.

I have had a major sweet tooth lately, so I decided to bring a Cookie Dough Dip, which was pretty darn amazing.
I served it with graham crackers, mini nilla wafers, and animal crackers.

(via What Megans Making)

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 8-ounce block of cream cheese, softened
3/4 powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup mini chocolate chips, plus extra for sprinkling

Directions:

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the brown sugar until it dissolves and the mixture starts to bubble. Stir in vanilla and set aside to cool.

In a separate bowl, cream the cream cheese and powdered sugar together for 60 seconds. With the mixer on low speed, add in brown sugar and butter mixture. Mix until combined. Stir in the mini chocolate chips.

Garnish with additional mini chocolate chips. Serve with cookies of choice!

YESTERDAY, was the best day of summer :)
My wonderful husband has been away in Philadelphia for the past 11 weeks for a Duke MBA internship.
It was really hard being away from eachother, but God was so good, and strengthened our marriage in incredible ways.
And now he is BACK!!  WAHOOO!!

home-made sign :)

He got home right before dinner last night, so I was able to whip up some of his favorite foods :)
Fresh sangria, guacamole, tacos, and popsicles!  He was a happy boy.

Tomorrow, we are off to sunny Florida for the week!!
XOXO

Charleston vacay - 2

I'll pick up where I left off from THIS post, which was the Charleston part UNO.  Now time for part DOS!
The third day in Charleston, my mom and I started early (before it got stifling hot), and explored the quaint downtown area, beautiful churches, theatres, graveyards, and more.

We had the most delicious lunch at 82 Queen, and loved sitting outside in the lovely patio area.
Our food was soooo delicious, I would highly recommend this place :)

That afternoon, we decided to check out the Boone Hall Plantation, where "The Notebook" was filmed.
We are soooooo glad that we did...it was just gorgeous and it was amazing to see that it still is a working plantantion!  Full of wildlife, acres and acres of farming, and of course the lovely plantation home.

After Boone Hall, we headed out to Sullivan's Island, and enjoyed walking along the beautiful beach, and soaking up the sun.

Poe's Tavern (on the island) was for dinner, and we loved it.  It was one of the restaurants that John and I LOVED when we were there in the spring.  So cute, and great food.

Our last day was spent walking around the Reading Terminal Market, and picking up a few last goodies and souvenirs.  We had a tasty brunch at Toast, and then headed out!
(But not before picking up some famous treats from "Cupcake" for the ride home :)

That's all folks!! Hope you enjoyed the pics!!  :)
XOXO
