Splurge or Steal?

Due to all of the craziness of the last month - decorating the new place, spending time with my fam, exploring our new area, and so on.....I haven't even THOUGHT about going shopping for clothes.  It's actually been quite nice, and a breath of fresh air.  And I know my wallet is thanking me :)

After the big move, I had to totally reorganize and redo my closet, and I came to the conclusion that I have WAY more than enough clothes.  I do not NEED to go shopping.  So I'm really going to make a point over the next several months to just shop FROM my closet :)  I  have always loved finding new ways to wear things and to create new outfits from pieces that I already have.  I'll keep you posted on how all that goes!

*my new closet*

I did actually buy some new workout clothes yesterday though - I'm on a roll with daily workouts thanks to great running trails here, a little bit of Jillian Michaels (30 Day Shred) and also some Pure Barre DVD's.  So I decided my 10th grade gym shorts and John's old tshirts weren't going to cut it anymore.

The little shopping excursion got me thinking about doing a little series on the blog called "Splurge or Steal?"  I always love those fun articles in the magazines that have designer outfits along with their prices, and then almost identical pieces for much much less.  And let's be honest, so many of the higher priced items are JUST for the label, not necessarily the quality of the article of clothing.

So here are a few copycats I've seen lately -- can you guess the high end item, and the lower end item??

Splurge or Steal leggings

Yep, just move the decimal point over one space to the right!  The Lululemon leggings are definitely the splurge here, and I have to admit are AMAZING workout pants.  But if your budget doesn't allow for them, these F21 ones look so similar and are literally a fraction of the price.

Save or Spend - Bags

1- Forever 21 Buckled Canvas Satchel - $32.80
2- Rachel Zoe Mini Satchel - $332

Really?  Another "Save" that is only a tenth of the price of the "Spend"!  Although the RZ bag is real leather, the F21 bag sure looks legit and pretty sturdy!  Great for lugging around school books, your laptop, or even as a travel bag.

Heart Hoodies

1- Wildfox Maui Babe Hoodie - $118
2- Forever 21 Metallic Heart Pullover - $17.80

I've actually loved these heart printed sweatshirts by Wildfox for awhile, but could never bring myself to spend that much on lounge clothes.  Until I found the F21 twin!  Pretty similar huh? And I love the mint and gold combo :)

Necklace differences?

1- Bubble Statement Necklace from Etsy - $29
2- J.Crew Bubble Necklace - $150

You've probably seen this necklace everywhere by now, but the steep J.Crew price tag may have been scaring you off.   But now, smaller boutiques and even Etsy have created almost exact replicas of these stunning statement necklaces.  So now you can get one in every color!

Let me know if you'd like to see more of these posts!  This one was really fun to put together!!

XOXO

Hope you had a lovely weekend!!

I would die for a closet as big as yours. Mine is so tiny I can reach in and touch the back wall. Yes.. fell sorry for me.

This was such a fun post! I love the Forever 21 bag, but I have to admit, I've never shopped there before. And you're right - you pay for the label for so many items, not necessiarly the quality.
